I have recently been diagnosed with eyelid eczema and was told not to wear any makeup! (the doctor was a man:) The thing is since last week when I apply MAC makeup (my favorite) my eyelids become itchy and I get small itchy raised bumps! Am I allergic to eyeshadow? I've never had any problems before. I've used MAC for over 4 years. Do you think I may need a break from cosmetics or am I totally banned from makeup forever? Also, would applying powder on the eyelid protect it from getting irritated? Any suggestions would be great. I'm so bummed b/c everyone always compliments me on my eyeshadow.

It's probably a certain ingredient. Does your eyeshadow contain mineral oil? Does it contain carmine?

I wouldn't use anything on your eyelids until the eczema is gone. They can do patch testing to see what caused it, but that can get expensive if you don't have insurance or if the insurance doesn't cover it.
