Hi Denise,
I have the same condition also. I have it on my elbows, underarms, a little on my knees. My sister has it really bad on the back of her neck.
My elbows are really bad. It is embarrassing. I am not diabetic, nor is my sister. I have been super exfoliating for about a month now. I am trying this skin lightening cream for about 2 weeks. It says it takes at least 3 weeks.
Yes,
We need help!!

Hi, redcanna... Just wanted to let you know if you read this, that a dermatologist told me a while ago not to scrub it becasue it makes it worse and believe me I used to scrub mine, but it made no difference. just thought I would let you know.

Hi!
I have a similar problem and I am currently using Retin-A, a dermatologist prescribed skin bleaching agent. I have been using it for about a month and a half and am starting to see results. I am also going to get my elbows and knees treated with a chemical peel just to speed things up. These things might sound a little too expensive but at least my skin is going to look presentable. One last piece of advice please don't try those over the counter products because they don't work and if they do then the results are minimal at best. If you have any questions just ask me for I have a website that my doc recommended to buy retin-a. I also recommend doing some search on retin-a too so u can get a better understanding of how things work.

I have a dark patch on my knees. I tried a prescription bleaching cream for six months that my dermatologist prescibed, but it didn't help. She then had the pharmacy specially compound a stronger bleaching cream with retin-a in it, but that did a big zilch too.

200-750 depending one the location. I live in new orleans and the price is 375 for the face and an additional 100 for any other part of the body.

Hi there. When I was younger, well actually, for about as long as I can remember I had dark skin on the insides of my elbows, underarms, and back of neck, and I never knew why. About a year ago, I was seeing my doctor for a seemingly unrelated problem that turned out to be caused by insulin resistance, which (admittedly, I don't know much about it) is a precursor to diabetes. And apparently, darkening of the skin in this manner is directly related to insulin resistance. She told me I needed to lose weight to get rid of my insulin resistance and prevent diabetes, and since then I have lost about 45 pounds. My skin has gotten lighter in these spots and is almost normal. I hope this helps!
