View Full Version : Back Pop after surgery

I had a discectomy/laminectomy last febuary of 03' and for the past year or my back seems to pop back into place around my surgery site. It is hard to explain but imagine bending forward and then standing straight up and then if you push your lower back forward it will pop. It does not hurt but just seems awkward. I was curious if anyone else has experienced anything different in their structural movement after surgery. I have done lots of PT and stretching and it slightly got better but will not completely dissopate.

:dizzy: :dizzy: I to have had multipe surgeries and I experience what you are calling back popping. It feels awkward, but does not cause me any pain. Although I have still been experiencing increased pain since surgery. I cannott explain it. Neither can the doctors......

Hi There,

i feel something similar aswell, it's like a poping feeling yet it doesn't hurt, my rehab team told me not to worry that it is most likely just the scar sticking from the inside, from the feeling i thought it was bones or something but apparently not.

I was noticing it quite a bit over the last year -- I had a microdiscectomy in 1999. I recently had a fusion on May 25; and haven't had any popping at all. Though, whenever I am up I am wearing my brace I am being very careful with every movement.

thanks for replying all, do any of you guys notice when u sit down or bend over for a period of time that the pop becomes greater than usual? i wonder if it has to do with compression or something...also do any of you notice you crack a lot more than usual...it seems that my back now is more sensitive and tends to crack even when i take big breathes in...like many of you my doc said not to worry but it is hard becomes sometimes i feel stuck and it hurts when i bend unless i pop which you can imagine is quite uncomfortable...thanks for hte help!

Is it possible that you did not fuse?i heard this same kind of sound in my neck after my cervical fusion and it was later determined(finally!!) that i didn't fuse.the sound that i was hearing was the bone against bone rub.it would kind of pop or snap?Marcia
