Wow I never thought this would happen to me but it has. Since perimenopause has invaded my body , soul, and spirit , my sexual desire has dwindled to hardly nothing. I don't think about sex ( although I have had vivid sexual dreams) and feel androgenous. My husband is having a very difficult time with this. He says he understands what I am going through but I do not think he really does. He has spoken to many women to help and wants me to take testosterone. He wants the intimacy and lets me know. Then when I feel nothing, he feels bad and then we get into a cycle of shame and blame. He is a therapist and I thought would be more understanding- but his needs are not being met so he is frustrated.
I am one of those people that is weary of hormones unless thery are natural and a little hesitant about testosterone.
I would like to hear from others and how they deal with their significant other.

Are you on the natural progesterone cream? As soon as I started using this, my sexual desire came right back! I think you should look into. It doesn't take much, you can take the lowest dose and still have results.

Hi it is hard isn't it. With me a short time before I lost my sexual drive.. it was really wild.. I couldn't get enough. I mean I had to have it ... alot too. Which wasn't actually normal either for me. Now, it had just vanished. My hubby has a hard time with it.
I do too but I just don't even think about it like you. Just don't even care. I mean I do but it isn't on the top of my list. I tried HRT for awhile. Testosterone was in that and that helped but then they had the HRT scare so I am not on that anymore. It had kind stopped working too. I tried the Preg. Cream too and it didn't work for me but it may for you. Hope this helps. Polly

Hi,

Lost mine too - seems the only time I want to do anything is right before my period is due. We tried making some changes....

I just can't relax when the thought of sex comes up - don't know why and then my body gets too sensitive to "touch" - I get so jumpy! So what we do is I have the hubby give me a relaxing back rub/leg rub and then, if I don't pass out, I'm relaxed and in the mood.

Hope this might help some.

Instead of actually taking testosterone I would recommend you consider an herbal supplement instead like tribulas terrestris. I have taken tribulas and have found that it does increase my desire, when I had absolutely none. It is supposed to increase testosterone levels. I suggest that you take 1 capsule (500 mg.) per day as needed. I find that anymore than 1 capsule gets me a little too confrontational than I need or want.

There are other herbs if that one doesn't work. I would be careful with yohimbe. Horny goat weed or epimedium is also good but I've only seen it sold in a combination with other herbs. That might work too, but I can't say from my personal experience.

Good luck.

i think i've tried everything, 6 mos of avlimil, progesterone cream for 5 months, testoterone for 3, and i'm sorry but i've not had anything that helped. only thing progesterone cream did was make me start having periods again, still not a regular period but flow none the less. cg
