Hi There
How y'all been doin? Just fine, I hope. Would someone out there please interpret this for me. I just can't make heads or tails of it.

L5-S1: There is a broad-based disc bulge. There is diminished disc signal. There is contact upon both descending S1 nerve roots, but no displacement. There is no facet arthropathy or inflammation. Broad-based disc bulge and mild disc degradation at L5-S1, contacting the ventral nearve root sheath of descending S1 nerve roots, but no displacement of the nerves is identified.

All I can tell you is that I hurt. My left calf is numb and tingly. Sometimes my left thigh is also. Right now it tingles in my left foot. My back hurts in every direction. I am uncomfortable if I sit for more than 15 minutes.. and the same if I stand. I seem to limp. Sometimes I feel a burn in my left calf and oddly in my left elbow. I've tripped over my own feet. Can't sleep well or long. I hate staircases and walking to the mail box.

Will I be ok here real soon? What is the normal healing time? It is broad and mild.

Please respond.

Hey Deleap,

Have your doc order PT. If that fails you can get a series of three EPD shots.

Also your doc can put you on prednazone? (steriod pack). Try all these befoe any thought of surgery!

Even if you just have a micro Discectomy chances are that you may have scar tissue later on that grows and compresses your nerve again.

Remember to make sure you see an orthopaedic doc or a nuro surgen doc.
Trust everyone on here, get it checked out now! You do not want to get DROP FOOT!

Last advice: Try not to aggervate your nerve further! Tip when you get out of bed use the log roll and only get out on the right side! Try not to put pressure on your left butt area. This will help with less aggervation to that area and suppress some pain.

Good luck!

Thanks Taz!
It has been so difficult getting any answers at all in the doctors office.
I saw a new doctor the day before yesterday and she wants me to get on a machine at the physical therepy place. It is called DRX. It is supposed to stretch me out a little bit and relieve some of the pressure on my disc. It sounds a bit like a torture table.
