About a month ago, I performed oral sex on a guy I hardly knew. He was a little rough and a few days later my throat was a bit red. When I put a Qtip back there, there was very little blood (my blood), he must of broken a tiny bit of skin, due to the roughness. I went to the DR and said it was just the roughness that caused the redness etc...Went away and it was fine. He did not come in my mouth, he pulled out, so no come was in my mouth. But is there a chance of HIV transmission through this? A little worried. His penis looked fine and clean with no sores or cuts etc.....
also i am just getting over a cold.

I can only say get tested. When I tested they told me it was 90% accurate at 6 weeks and 99% at 13 weeks. For Peace of mind, the only way is to be tested. Symptoms don't matter. They could be anything.

your risk sounds extremely low, I wouldn't worry about it. Get tested to put your mind at rest though.

thanks for the response. It's been one month, so should I wait or should I take the Elisa or the PCR or PCN (can't remember)...can't they detect kinda early?

Have you had any symptoms?
A lot of people on this board got tested only because they developed symptoms(flu-like, fatigue, rashes) after being exposed.

If you believe that you didn't have any 'real' symptoms then there isn't much to worry about, it's actually up to you whether you want to test or not.
all I can tell you is that your risk is low, the mouth isn't a very welcoming medium for the HIV virus anyway. :)

Thanks,,,
It's only been 32 to 35 days,,,,is a test still accurate at that time?

Testing now would give you an idea of what your test result after 3 months would be.
If you read on, a lot of websites say that people usually seroconvert within the first month, to be more accurate, after 26 days(or something close to that, I don't remember.)
However there are cases where people take longer(usually three months) that to seroconvert. Also there are RARE cases where people seroconverted after three months of being exposed to the virus.
If you are worried, do what cee27 suggested, test now, then test after three months(just to convince yourself) - it'll ease off your mind. :)

All of the tests should do, you might want to ask your doctor for further information regarding the tests, usually doctors recommend me doing PCR-DNA tests whenever I want to test for an STD, but that's just my doctors. :)
Remember though, the oral swab test detects strain-1 only.
What makes you think that your partner is HIV+ anyway?

Oh, I get a little paranoid. I just met the guy don't even know him really, and he was a bit rough. But I just recently asked him if he was tested and he said he was, but I just wanna be sure. I wouldn't really be worried if he didn't hurt my throat, he broke a few vessels (i think),,,I really only noticed it if I put a qtip back there the day after... and there was a little of my blood on the Qtip. He had no cuts (from what i could see),,,,so that is the only reason for me worrying. He did not come in my mouth. :(

Well, I think you're just being paranoid, I had my time too when I got really obsessed with HIV, I received a handjob from a person that I didn't know at all, the fact that she was there naked kept bringing thoughts such as 'what if she had vaginal fluids on her hands, what if this, and what if that?' I spent my last three months sickly worrying, every single sickness was seroconversion to me during that time, the worry wasn't worth it, personally I think anxiety of not knowing your status kills one faster than the virus itself.
Don't worry, get tested and believe in your results, and take this as a lesson.
..And keep us updated, I'll get the champaign to celebrate your results. hehe ;)
