Well, I've decided to canvas the board in the hope of ascertaining just what it is that is afflicting my skin. I hope that by describing the symptoms, someone who has had experience with this condition (or something similar), will be able at the very least to recommend an effective strategy for containment. In the first place, my forehead, nose, temples and high cheeks are entirely clear - the problem seems to be concentrated primarily in those areas where I can grow facial hair, and where I have had moderate acne in the past. The condition itself consists in small, more or less visible, and quite flat faded red spots or discolorations strewn over my cheeks and around my mouth and nose, greatly exacerbated and made prominent whenever I shave. Ordinarily, under a few day's growth of facial hair, these spots are so small as to appear almost invisible, unless viewed at the closest possible range, in a high-quality mirror and under flourescent lighting. Whenever I apply a moisturizer, the appearance of these spots is greatly accentuated, due I suspect to the initial oiliness of the lotion. I am not quite sure what to make of these faint red spots or how to go about repairing them. I suspect that may be damaged pores or hair follicles, but really have no way of confirming such conjecture. Any theories, whether informed by personal experience or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.
