I have severe arthritis and fibromyalgia. My doctor has discussed putting me out of work (I still work full time as a secretary). My question is, if he puts me out on disability, can I still do things (shopping, going to the pool, etc.). There are days when I'm better than other days and may be able to do some things. I don't want anything to jeopordize my income. Also, if I'm out of partial days (only work about 4 hours a day, for instance), can I still collect social security disability? Thanks!!!

If you are capable of making $810.00 or more per month then you are by definition, not disabled as far as Social Security is concerned.

Forgive me for being nosey Purplebill, could you possibly help us understand where you get your wonderful knowledge from? As far as what can be derived from SSI's websites that seems to be priveledged knowledge. Don't get me wrong please, it's been quite informative! True tho', you can only recite what the book says. While we deal with the individuals who interpret it's meaning. I'm envious of your mastery of the law and appreciate your assistance. Too bad the ones at the local level aren't as helpful as you! Thanks again!
