What do you think about ONLY having the 24 hr. urine cortisol test, without the ACTH? This was the proposal of the doctor we saw for the first time today? Said Trav didn't "look" Addisons. And he may very well be correct is thinking he doesn't have it. But I then asked, "Even secondary?", to which he didn't reply. Is a lot for these doctors to digest in one appointment. I was a bit disappointed that he felt the TSH was enough of an indicator that he should not have to do any more thyroid tests. This doesn't coincide with what the folks on the Thyroid board say. Had a so-so feeling about the doctor's apt. today. Tomorrow appointment may be a different matter, I'm hoping (different new doctor). Thanks much! ~ Tracy

Thanks, Chris. Will go to the ped my friend liked tomorrow. If no help there, will try a shot in the dark for an osteopath, as there have been no particular ones recommended to me as yet. Tried asking the nurse we knew about good osteopaths, but she didn't know any of them. Anyway, thanks for the input. I did think the ACTH was the hallmark, whereas this doc said he thought the urine test was the most telltale. Tracy

:) Well I guess that's good (for YOU at least!). After all, they say that laughter is the best medicine! Glad my experiences yesterday were good for something, anyway! ~ Tracy

I had a UFC test done, and my cortisol levels seemed perfectly normal, even my doctor said so...but then I had an ACTH stim test done and I only went up 3 points, so the UFC didn't do me any good. I would find a different doctor until you get one that will listen to you and do what you ask.

Thank you for that valuable piece of your experience! Every fact helps to bolster my determination, when it sometimes gets low. I think my next step will be to order tests and pay for them myself, and post them here. THEN, if the tests show anything wrong, we'll know we need to find the right kind of doctor to help treat it. Thanks again! Tracy
