Daubie - I had my surgery and i am now home . It was not real bad . They said they were going to give me a margurita and they put something in my Iv and i was gone . They said they woke me up a few times during it but i do not remember it all . He said that it went better than he thought it would and he thinks he got it all .I have had no numbness in my left leg since i have been home . I am just so sore right now .And i still have to wear those yucky looking stockings?I wonder how long i have to wear those ? They did not tell me .I go back to the DR Tuesday. Hope you are doing ok . Shauna

Hi Shauna, http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

------------------
Two level laminectomy fusion L5-S1 & L2-3 done on 12/6/02.
I regret the day that I agreed to have this surgery.
Fifteen inch scar from the very top of butt crack (sorry), to the bra line.
BAK cages, rods & screws.(Titanium)
My pelvic bone was used for grafting.
Praying that the other two discs in between, won't have to be fused later, as I was told it was a possibility, due to the other two discs in between, not being in that great of shape.
Doc didn't want to fuse four levels, unless it is really necessary.
I would hate to repeat the surgery, as the recovery period, is so very painful.
I also have a free fragment in my T11-12 area, that I'm still refusing surgery for, at this point in time.
That surgery is way too dangerous for me to consider, until if affects my being able to walk.

Thanks Baxter ! It is to soon to tell but i think my pain is coming from the incision site and not my back . It is a different kind of pain that i am having now .I was sent home with this cooler thing that i have to keep ice and water in .It has a hose that conects to a pad. The ice water circulates through the pad . I have never seen one of these before but it works great . I still have the sick at my stomach feeling .I can not eat anything .I guess that is caused from the anesthesia ? Better go get back on the ice pad . Take care ! Shauna

Glad you are doing better. I have one of those ice thinges. Had it for rotator cuff surgery and they are great. Maybe it will work for my back when I get home from surgery.
Good luck on full recovery and be pain free

Thanks Baxter and Alex ! Baxter i wish i could give you more info on this cooler thing . ( but i do not know what i can post and what i can't ) I think it would make you more comfortable.Alex i was looking at your other post about your upcoming surgery . I had surgery yesterday that was very similiar .I had a percutanous lumber discetomy . My hubby just changed my bandage and i have two small holes and a few stitches . The surgery took about two hours and i was in recovery for a hour , then i came home . It was really not bad at all . The discogram that i had on 3/21 was lots worse . Good luck on your surgery Tuesday . Shauna

Hi Shauna, http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif
Thank you for thinking about me, you can list a product name, just not a website.
If you look to the left of the main topic page, it says "memo to members, please read" that gives you a general idea of what we can post.
It's o.k. if you decide to not post it, I'm using heat right now, that seems to help me more than the ice at this point, but it's the thought that counts.
I was just interested in what yours looks like, maybe it's something I will check into.
Thanks again, and have a peaceful evening http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/yawn.gif

mine says medicos on the side . It says igloo on the handle. It is just a cooler .It has a pump inside of it and two rubber tubes coming out of it . The two tubes hook up to a pad ( that has coil looking things inside of it ) .You just keep ice and water in it .It stays cool for eight hours or so . My dr prescribed it for me. I feel a little better . I took those awful itchy stockings off and took a shower .I also ate a little supper . I used to do ice during the day and heat at night but he wants me to only do ice now . It hurts to sit for very long so i guess i better get off of here . Good night . Shauna
