Alright so I went ahead & told my doctor last month that I wanted to get an HIV test to be on the safe side. When I got my results back, it said it was a CBC test and it was normal. I was surprised it wasnt an ELISA test or a Western Blot test. Does a CBC test check for HIV too? Just wanna make sure I dont have to go back & take another test.

WEll i am not sure what your doc was doing but i am pretty confident that CBC will not be substantial as an HIV test. CBC tests for all the different types of antibodies and immune cell types (eosinophils, basophils, etc.) You can take it as a good sign in a way that this test came back normal but in no way does it check for your HIV status. You need to go back and get an ELISA test if you still are concerned about your status. Good luck.
