For about a year now, the skin just in the crease of my nostrils to my cheeks has had this weird red rash. it is reaccuring, and i went to my regular doctor who told me to use hydrocortisone cream, which doesnt help at all. i havent been able to see a derm about this. not only is it red but i forms little blisters which seem to be beneath the skin and look white. they are filled with like a clear liquid (?) and if opened become inflammed and a little painful. help! ive tried the med cream i had for impetigo, didnt work neither did the elidel my doc gave me. moisturizers, antibiotic cream, witch hazel, nothing helps. it wont go away, i need help and i dont know what this is...maybe rosacea? i actually found a posting on the older version of this site in 2000 about someone with the exact problem. Im new to this site but need help soon!

Hello,
Believe me I know your frustration. I've been dealing with this on and off since 1985. In fact its the reason that I am at this board today. Has your doctor ever cultured you for staph? That has been the source of my problem since day one. I've tried every medication over the counter and even some you would never think of putting in your nose. (I don't suggest trying that)
I've had decent luck with perscribed Bactroban nasal ointment. With all the antibotic resistant strains of staph now adays I'm reluctant to use it too often and I've started researching more natural treatment. I just started using Tea Tree oil which has seemed to help quite a bit although it really dries out my nostrils, to the point of getting a bloody nose. So I'm trying a combination of Tea Tree oil followed up a while later with bag balm. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about Staph and Bactroban. Good luck.
