For fat loss? It almost always happens. If you have been dieting strictly and constantly for weeks, a "cheat day" will help. Doesn't have to be junk, just higher calorie, higher carbs. Will fire up the thyroid. Changing up the intensity of your cardio, trying different kinds of cardio, different times of day. What is your current diet/exercise regimen?

I drink water all day . I watch my carbs, no junk food, no soda, no fried food ever. I have been doing this since Feb 28 and lost 30 pounds already. I work out 6 days a week. I do the treadmill 3 x a week for 45 minutes, elliptical 3 x a week for 30 minutes, weight machines for arms and legs 4 x a week, situps and dumbells 4 x a week.

I hate weight plateaus. I find that fasting for a couple of days really helps to jump start my weight loss. I drink only green tea and lots of water and if I get absolutely nauseaus I'll have something VERY light like a little miso soup or a few grapes just to kill the hunger. Its very difficult and i think about food all day!! haha. But, it totally gets all the crap out of your system, flattens your stomach, clears your colon and gives you a spring in your step.

When I start eating again, I eat only veggies, nuts, tofu (or fish/chicken if you're not a veggies) and a little fruit for a week or so and then introduce carbs slowly. But I still try to make protein and veggies the focus of my meal. Treat carbs like a side dish, not the basis for your meal.

Of course, i make sure to exercise frantically for at least 1 hour a day, 4 times a week.

A couple of days? Lotta muscle loss there. One day, maybe, but please be careful or you'll be doing more damage than good. Less muscle = lower metabolism. The only problem that I have with fasting is that it it very likely to trigger a starvation response and for the next few days after the fast, your body is more prone to storing calories as fat and using up muscle tissue for fuel. I'd still recommend eating *more* for just one day, or even one meal. But it's your call. :) Good luck to you.

Addendum: do you count calories? Or just the basic "watch what you eat" - and congrats on the weight loss so far. :D

Fasting for a day or two seems the only way for me to get carbs out of my system. Mostlly the second day I'll make a protein shake with rice milk or something. I find that if I start off with a fast and then need something, I need only a tiny something. (i'm REALLY bad with portion control)

And no, i never count calories or carbs or sugars. I just try to eat lots of veggies, tofu, beans, nuts/seeds, etc. But, i'm bad and often eat pasta and rice too. Bread I've managed to give up.

Change up what you eat, different mixtures, ex....lean steak and potato, chicken veggies...etc... different timings.. then change up your regimen ... try circuit training.. for cardio try sprinting...Eg...Treadmil...steady pace 2 min warm up, then job say 5mph for 1-2 min, then steady pace1-2min, then jog 6mph 1-2min, steady pace 1-2 min, then run 7 1-2min, then down to 5, then steady pace, then 6, then 5, then 8...see the pattern?? keeps switching, recovery time will vary...do this for about 25 min..it will kick your *** and your body wont know what to do byut shed the weight..try different exercises for resistance...try the bands...
