I have had this problem for a long time now, my hearing seems to be good in my left and right ears, but my left one makes this crackling sound, along with and unuasual sensation whenever there is a loud noise around..... It kinda reminds me of a broken speaker! Also, there is usually fluid discharge accomponying it. I can also have this same sensation when I wake up in the morning and yawn. And by the way, it is in my left ear, and it is more sensetive to sound than the other.

I know exactly the way you feel by what you are describing. I have the same exact thing, it is allergies and fluid in the ear. It is frustrating.
