yugokid 06-18-2004, 07:37 PM I got a major bout of the head cold, and shivers. I need to know if theres any cold/sinus meds that wont interact with toprol xl 25mg. thanks yugokid 06-18-2004, 09:05 PM ok i spoke to the pharm at rite aid and she gave me Vicks Vapor Inhaler and Robitussin DM for the sinus and coughing. Now as for the aches and pains, as well as the fever, would it be alright if i took Tylenol 8 hour? heres what i did. 5:30 toprol xl 8:30 Vicks vapor inhaler (30min ago) then will it be ok if i took the robitussin dm with the tylenol after it? update edit, went to go see the pharm again and she said that i can take all of them with no interactions what so ever. I just took the tylenol (2) and in 5 min im gonna take the robitussin. any thoughts? Oh this is important too, does the cold raise the Heart Rate? zip2play 06-19-2004, 08:02 AM Pharmacist is right. Everything should be fine <except for the misery of the cold.> :dizzy: If you start couging up a storm, a codeine prescription will work a lot better than DM! yugokid 06-19-2004, 08:40 AM Thanks zip. I went to my doctor , he has a 24 clinic, i guess its one of those 1 day colds. He was more concered about my HR being 118. i told him i had a fever of 102 through out most of the day. He also ran another EKG and told me for the 3rd straight time he's not finding anything serious with my PVC's. Tho, is it normal to sometimes have PVC's every 2-3 beats and sometimes everyother beat? Ok like heres what i mean by everyother beat. i take my pulse, and i feel one beat, then the skip then another beat then the skip. Did i get the "everyother" thing right or is that known as "V-tach" NineLives 06-19-2004, 09:12 AM I've been told not to take any cold medicines with a decongestant. These tend to raise blood pressure. I can't even take Tylenol Sinus any more which was my drug of choice for sinus pressure. It now causes me to experience angina. yugokid 06-19-2004, 12:54 PM yea it kinda sucks that i cant anymore. But can someone please answer my question above? yugokid 06-19-2004, 11:55 PM Just answered my own question, i had to time it right, but i got it. i had one hand on my neck for a pulse and one on my heart..(i can feel the pvc) and my pulse stops when i get the pvc. so when i said, i get one pulse then the pause, that pulse before the pause is a normal beat right? butterflytrans 06-20-2004, 12:47 AM Just answered my own question, i had to time it right, but i got it. i had one hand on my neck for a pulse and one on my heart..(i can feel the pvc) and my pulse stops when i get the pvc. so when i said, i get one pulse then the pause, that pulse before the pause is a normal beat right? No..that's not right. A PVC, as you probably know stands for premtaure ventricular contraction...it results when, for some reason or other, there is an electrical impulse to the ventricle before there should be one. Because this results in the ventricle contracting, your pulse shouldn't stop...in fact, you should feel an extra beat out of sync with the rest. yugokid 06-20-2004, 10:31 AM man im confused, I feel my heart, theres a normal beat, theres a pulse, then when i feel the pvc, theres a pause in my pulse for that pvc. Can someone explain how that works?? when i feel the pulse then after that theres the pause, was the pulse before that the pvc or a normal heart rate? jpos 06-20-2004, 01:03 PM My pac's and pvc's "feel" like a pause. When it is every other beat, I believe, it is called bigeminy. I had this recorded on the heart monitor, it felt like my heart was flip-flopping. As far as cough meds I was told Benedryl and Robitussin DM. (I am on atenolol and verapamil, other meds for other probs). yugokid 06-20-2004, 01:13 PM now is this bigeminy a bad thing? basically what i feel is a beat then a rapid beat with a pause. It has been recorded and shown as just a pvc. __EDIT__ Bigeminy is a heart arrhythmia in which heart beats occur in pairs with a pause between each pair. A typical example is ventricular bigeminy which is a normal beat followed by a premature ventricular beat, also known as a premature ventricular contraction (PVC). Following the PVC there is a pause and then the normal beat returns - only to be followed by another PVC. The continuation of this pairing of beats is an example of bigeminy. BINGO! zip2play 06-21-2004, 07:14 AM yugo, Amazing coincidence. Check the post by pmsbarbie titled ANOTHER ABLATION! |
