View Full Version : Is this compensation?

Since February I have recorded how I feel every day in my diary - with a day being either good, ok or bad.

Since starting the VRT I have had these results:

Feb - 14 bad days.
March - 12 bad days.
April - 6 bad days.
May - 1 bad day.

This is good right?

Of course "good" is far from normal but I think I have failed to notice my improvements as they have been slow and subtle. But these results are encouraging. Thoughts?

Sounds good to me.

As you say the improvements are soooo slow its hard to tell sometimes. The way I knew I was getting better was that it no longer consumed my thoughts 24/7, I now go for hours and hours not even thinking about it because it isn't there.

Hi Emsybobs

Yep--that is pretty much the kind of pattern I experienced--after starting the VRT---with a "blip" or two---in a couple of the follow-on months

----for each month---for the days that were not "bad"----did you keep track of how many were "good" or "ok"---for the month

wonderful---a big improvement---there!!

Hi Em,

You're good how you keep track of it this way. I was doing that for a while when things were a lot worse and then I got lazy. But I can look back at Jan - April (which I did keep a record of) and my months went a lot like yours although I wasn't really doing any VRT, just trying to get on with things whether or not I felt lousy. The bad days became less and less though. It's just so true how the progression out of this is monthly.....I reckon about 5% per month for me. When I first read that I couldn't believe it....but sooooo true. It looks like you are coming out of it to me based on your report and don't forget your relatively quick recovery from the train trip compared to the jet.

I've just come down with a cold and got some "symptoms" as it approached over the last few days. I woke up 2 nights ago with full blown heart palpitations. Haven't had that for weeks and weeks. It seems to have settled though. I guess I won't feel completely free of this until I can get through a cold or whatever without additional lab symptoms.

I just had this excellent visit form my Dad over the weekend (he lives in New Zealand). He brought this biofeedback thing with him that you attach to your finger and plug into a PC. It measures your sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve impulses. The name of the game is to get yourself relaxed to a point where the two impulses are in sync. When that happens it lights up green, but when your stressing it goes red (too much sympathetic activity). It was really cool to observe how you should feel to achieve green. It took me some time to get there but am going to try this daily as a meditation! Might speed recovery and kill the anxiety junk once and for all.

Take care.......Scott xx

That biofeedback thing sounded fab!!! Hope you are feeling ok today. I am going for a NLP session on Friday - its like CBT - and I thought it may help the anxiety and everything! :) xxx

Hey Em,

I'd like to hear more about the NLP...have you done this before? How long is the session and what do you do exactly? Sounds really interesting...I love this sort of stuff.

Em: Info please - what are NLP and CBT?

Scott - th ebiofeedback thingy sounds good - I can imagine you hooked up daily with green and red lights going on and off all over the place. Can you concentrate/meditate/control yourself enough to turn the red into green. Love to hear more about it....

Speaking of compensation........I don't know if it is a permanent change but I managed to go to the cinema last night and actually enjoy myself! Last time I went to the movies I was in an absolute mess....but this time I didn't have any of those horrible symptoms. A little visually off but thats normal for me.

Yay....hopefully this will stay!

Nice one Star! Same is happening for me too - even driving is OK now. You're getting closer to 100!

Cheers...Scott
