Good evening guys and gals,
I have a question that I was going to ask and see what some of the experienced participants thought.
In a nutshell, I take Lortab for an ailing back. I take (3) 7.5's per day for about a week and then take nothing but aspirin and ibuprophen for a few weeks. Then back to the Lortab for a week. This cycle seems to work but I'm concerned about addiction. I have been doing this for about 2 years now. Any thoughts/input regarding addiction?
Thanks so much,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Are you concerned about addiction or dependence? There is a difference. If it's dependence you are concerned about, if you are going weeks in between your lortab, and are not having any withdrawals then I would say you are not dependent and if you are going weeks without the lortab then I would say you are not addicted. If you were addicted you would be taking them just because you have them. Dependence is just something that comes with the territory when you have chronic pain. I hope I answered your question.
By the way, who is rx'ing your lortab? What does that doc say? Have you discussed this with them? You know, if you can go weeks without the lortab and you are managing your pain with other meds, I would just stick with the other meds since you are concerned about addiction issues. Those of us who use opiates on a daily basis could not go weeks without our meds and it is not because we are addicted, it is because our pain levels cannot be controlled in any other way. Take care.
God Bless,
