I posted once already about this, but I can't take it anymore, will someone please reply to me...

I had protected insertive anal sex and recieved unprotected oral, with no ejaculation, from a sex worker recently. Can someone tell me what my risk of contracting HIV is?

Oral sex unprotected sex is considered a low risk, some specialist say it's 'no risk', that's for giving oral sex, now for receiving, I don't believe there's a risk for HIV transmission at all, if there was it, it would be way lower than the 'giver's risk' as the saliva does not contain an efficient amount of the virus to cause an infection.

protected anal/vaginal sex isn't risky as long as you were using a good condom. :)
Anyway the transmission rate for unprotected sex was something like 1:100, can you imagine how it will be when it's protected?

If I were you, I would not worry about HIV, I'd worry about other stuff such as HPV and HSV as those are very common nowadays and can be easily transmitted even with protection.

Thank you for writing back. Now it's been only a week since the encounter, but I've been having headaches off and on for the last four days and yesterday I had major stuffed up sinuses and a throbbing headache to go with it. Please tell me that's nothing when it comes to the symptoms of HIV and just simply a cold.

I'm going out of my mind on this one as well, I'm trying to over analyze the situation and it's causing me much more grief than good.

It's one of those unfair things that homosexual sex is always riskier than heterosexual sex (all else being equal). Also, homosexual sex with a sex worker is going to increase the risk.

HOWEVER:

Everyone (without exception I think) that reads or posts here is worried about symptoms. Either that, or they are worried about an experience, which then turns into worrying about symptoms. The common thing here is not disease, it's worry.

You had protected anal sex. OK, I suppose there is a very small chance from this (though virtually zero from unprotected oral)... but, it's probably more likely that you'll be struck by lightning tonight than have anything worth worrying about.

Get tested at the three month mark (simply to appease your worry) and put it behind you.

P.S. Sinus problems are generally unrelated to ARS.
