hi, this was ages ago now but still worrying!! i was in work, (i work in a hospital) and i had taken a trolley to a ward and on my way back i was waiting by a lift and i noticed that i had blood on my finger. I had cut that finger a day or two before quite deeply, when i say deeply i just mean like a slice through the flesh, caused by a craft knife, not like a big open gash! and it had healed partially not not fully, as it was still a quite new wound, but this cut was were the blood was. I know it would make sense that I had accidentally knocked the wound and it had started to bleed a little bit again, but I couldnt help thinking what if it was blood from somewhere else and it had got into my partially healed cut. it made me feel sick to my stomach with worry. what would be the likelyhood that if it was blood from somewhere else and it got into my cut that was not bleeding anymore but not fully healed, of catching hiv through it? that is if the blood was infected? the only thing that I know for a fact was that I had at no point come into contact with any person so if it was blood from somewhere it would of been from something i had picked up or a railing or the lift buttons etc etc. i know everyone says hiv dies in the open air but doesnt it only die when the blood has dried? :-s
