I *was* getting my allergy shots from my primary doctor every month for the past year. Well, he called and said my insurance company now insists that I get them from the allergist! This is annoying for a couple reasons. 1. The allergist charges more --he's a specialist. Thing is, I don't even SEE the allergist at my allergy shots --they just herd you through the nurse like a cattle drive. (Call your name into a room open to the waiting room, give the shots, send you out). 2. I kind of liked getting them at my doctor's office, because he could take care of whatever else I needed.. like he gave me my flu shot while I was there, though I didn't ask for it. It was more personal, kind of developing a relationship. Now, I probably won't go and see my primary doc unless it's something major.
Why on earth does insurance do this stuff? Looks like it would cost them more to make me see the specialist every month... I'm afraid I don't understand!
