My psychology professor told me that when he sees a patient with HIV/AIDS they can not stand any closer than 6 feet because they are known as "spitters" that will spit in your eye and try to give you HIV/AIDS.

Is that true, that you can catch HIV if an HIV infected person spits in your eye?
