View Full Version : How do I know I haven't got something terrible ?

Hi people - I haven't been here for a while as I have been getting slowly better. A good sign is that I haven't been thinking about this all the time.

I still have a feeling like when I move my head, the feeling of movement is delayed in my head. Also, I am still having the squelchy noise in my ears ; it goes for a day the returns for a week. Does anyone else have this ?

Cognitivley, in retrospect I feel okay. But I still have a kind of 'spatial weirdness' if you can understand at all what I mean. Kind of like, my body isnt as heavy as when I felt well, I somehow don't have the same grasp on things in general.

Do you think that the fact I was feeling AWFUL last August/September and noiw don't feel even half as bad is a sign that i don't have some really horrible illness ? I have started to panic more recently about this, although my life is a bit more stressed at the moment. Do you think that could be contributing to feeling a bit off ?

Also, I work in a large office where people are coughing, sneezing and snivelling all year round - could this be a part / cause of my problem ????

Please give soem response - I feel pretty low at the moment.

Hope someone has fully recovered, cos it feels like I'm just going back and forth...

Sorry to hear you're feeling so low. That's how this thing hits us and of course, when you're low, the confidence disappears and we have even less ability to cope with the dizzy monster.

The fact that you were feeling so awful last summer and now don't feel half as bad is DEFINITELY a sign that not only do you not have some really awful (read: life-threatening) illness, but that you are well on the road to recovery. You said yourself that you are slowly getting better. I can't say about the squelchiness in the ears as I never had any problems with my ears as such, just BPPV which only affected my balance from time to time. However, the very nature of vestibular diseases/dysfunction is that there are setbacks, good days and bad days until gradually, hopefully, the good days outnumber the bad and finally it's only good days. That's what happened with me.

So cheer up, you are getting there.

Madeleine

Hi unduly-worried,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so crummy again. Like you, I got hit with something horrendous last September/August - probably labyrinthitis. And while I'm not 100% better, I'm sure 1000X better than 9 months ago. And from what I hear you saying, you're in about the same spot. I think the increase in stress levels around you is probably what is making you feel "uneasy and unsure" again. Can you somehow make an effort to destress a little? If you can find some way to relax your body daily and not pay attention to the negative thoughts, you'll probably feel a lot better and more in control again. You ARE definitely getting better - you must keep that in mind! BTW, I get the spatial weirdness thing occasionally too.

Hang in there.......Scott
