I've been reading some bizarre things on board postings abt this topic. No 1
has time to research? Someone said they're getting dizzy from the radiation
of a sinus-CT? 1st: The `M' in MRI = Magnetic (no radiation is there). 2nd:
the time in, machine size, unit age, all decide the amt. of radiation exposure.
A 1 ton may take 10 min., a 1.5T only takes 7 min & has a different design
block in place. 1 head-CT is egual to abt 3 standard chest x-rays. Radiation
doesn't make U dizzy or ill from a CT. It's your stress/fear. If U had a chest
xray (every min. for 24 hrs) which is unlikely anyone would, U deplete vit. C
& may get sick if U decided to top it off w/ a dental film the next day. You
can die from infection undiagnosed maybe, but not a CT. A Coronal CT gives
clearer sinus images than a MRI & is quicker/cheaper too. Everyone can also
go back to lab, sign a release, & check out they're films if U want see U. The
labs also will give U a copy of the same report the Dr. is given @ no charge.
Also, U don't have to go to `that' specific lab Dr. wrote. A written form is
like a script & U can take it to any lab. I use 3 different places & request
they send for old films to compare. 1 place couldn't take me for a week. The
other one could take me same day I called them. The spine/brain are almost
always MRI w/ dye for clarity. Did I leave anything out? Hope this helped.
