Over the past couple of months, I've developed reddish or purple lines all over my inner thighs, my inner arms, and my lower stomach. They look like broken blood vessels. They don't itch or burn or hurt, they're just... there, and I keep discovering new places I have them. On my stomach, the lines are slightly raised so I can feel them. They are horribly ugly and worrisome... can anyone PLEASE give me an idea of what they are, why I have them, or how I can get rid of them????

Have you recently gained or lost weight in the recent months? They could be stretch marks. If so, try and find some over the counter cream for stretch marks. Also, use vitamin E oil on them. If you haven't had a change in your weight--see a dr.

YES! I gained about 30 pounds, the last 20 or so of them in like the last two or three months. I thought that stretch marks were white, but if they aren't always white, this could definitely be what they are. I have wondered about this, but I didn't know what to do or whom to ask.

You can get them fixed with laser. Also, I've read spicy foods and extremes of temperatures exacerbate them.

Stretch marks are pink or purple at first, then eventually fade to white. There is really no way to get rid of them, unless you use the laser procedure. Supposedly the creams help reduce their appearance, but none of this has worked for me. By the way, a lot of women (and men to a lesser degree) get these, even without significant weight gain. The only good news is they fade over time and become less noticeable. Take care!
