Thanks, Bec Sponsor Marimac 06-24-2004, 08:29 AM Can anyone give the symptoms and the testing for lymphoma? Just need some info for a friend. Thanks, Bec Symptoms: sometimes none at all. The ones that send a person to the doctor are, fevers greater than 100 degreesF that come and go for no apparent reason. Fatigue, night sweating, sometimes generalized itching with no apparent rash, sudden loss of 10% of normal body weight. Ex: if you normally weigh 150 lbs and suddenly drop 15 pounds over one month without a change in eating habits, or sometimes, a person will experience a sudden weight gain due to fluid retention when they never had that problem before. The most important thing to realize is that the lymph nodes that could be cancerous are usually not painful, are usually around the size of a penny or larger, and are usually fixed and not moveable. They also may not be swollen in the normal places such as under the chin, but may be located above the collar bone on either side. These are the most common symptoms, but not the only symptoms. worryworttx 06-24-2004, 10:34 AM Thank you for your response...my friend has lymph nodes that seem to pop up and stay all over her body...one in the back of her head for at leas a year now, under her left breast on rib cage area, but the one that she is concerned about is in the back of her head around the nape of the neck...it has been bothering her for some time and she thought that it was just muscle tension...then she got either a zit or bite on it and it has really popped up now..the actual site of the bite (or whatever it is) is sore, but she can feel a "buldge" that is hard now...what should she do? She is tired all the time, no matter how much sleep that she gets' having alot of dizziness and just doesn't feel well at all. She can't seem to get well no matter if she takes antibiotics or not.? ANY FEED BACK would be great. The best option would be to biopsy a node and see what the results are. It can be a full node biopsy or a fine needle aspiration. That would tell the tale. |
