Are there any male sufferers of FM who currently post on this board?

Hi. I've seen quite a few posts with "male" user names. It's not as common for a man to have FM but they ARE out there, and I really feel bad for them, especially if they are what you want to call the "bread winners" in the family.

More and more men are being diagnosed with FM which seemed to be, for a long time, a "womens" conditon. My husband came home from his job offshore and told me that one of the captains he works with just got diagnosed with FM.

Give your question a few days and I'm sure you'll get a lot of replies from the "guys".

Nice thanks! I know there are a lot of misconceptions about the disease and I want to educate myself more. I have always had the impression that most of the people that suffer from it are middle-aged females, but I'm finding that that's not necessarily the case.

Hi--

Male here. I have Lyme Disease and it has brought me into FM.
I've been diagnosed with the Lyme Disease for about five years-the FM for about two and a half.

Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you Ed! With your fibromyalgia, what is your predominantly painful area?

Hi---

My main areas for pain are neck/shoulder/back/legs/knees/feet.

The doctor said the knees and feet are arthritis, but it all feels like one gigantic hurt.

So--for FM it would be the first four areas I mentioned.

How about you?

Ed
