I am a 40 year old male with L4-L5 degenerated and L5-S1 herniated discs. Had idet 2 years ago and am much worse. Haven't been able to work. Fusion is not recommended for me. Has anybody used the medtronic pain pacemaker that Jerry Lewis has. If so what are the results. Or can anybody recommend any type of procedure that has worked.

Pain Man, I had one implanted on 6/11 and have had great results so far. If you go to the pain management site you will see a topic called pain suggestions and posted by garyd, there are several of us there posting. Here is the link http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/Forum96/HTML/001184.html
I will be glad to explain the whole procedure and how it has helped me, but you may do best by going and reading those posts first to catch up and then ask some questions.
Its called a spinal cord stimulator, or neurospinal stimulator. Mine is a medtronic unit.

L3-4 now re-herniated
L4-5 DDD
L5-S1 herniated
5/14--trial stimulator implant(went well enough for full implant)
6/11/03--full implant(medtronic)
Hopefully to hold on for ADR
