I got no sleep again last night, partly becuase of the pain and party because I took way to much medication :nono:
anyway I called my GP today and told him that I really can't take this ear pain, and I NEED to sleep (the doctor I saw on tues was not my reg doctor but she was available) so he said come see him. So I went he checked my ear and said no infection which made me sad because at least that's curable but that lady said I had an infection ARGHH....he felt my tm joints and said its def the TMJ causing the pain so he gave me xanax and percocet, and was even willing to give me the flexerell which that other stupid doctor wouldn't. I really like this doctor and should have waited to get an appt with him
oh yeah, my dog ate my mouth guard, $125 bux down the drain, not like it was helping anyway.
has anyone ever tried one of those mouthguards that u get in the pharmacy??
I'm desperate and don't see the new TMJ doc till July2nd

Oh Raquel, I'm soooo sorry. At least you got to see someone who listened to you and hopefully knows what they are doing today. How can you misdiagnose an ear infection?! :( Did he have any ideas about that? I tried one of those mouth guards you use as an athletic guard, is that what you are talking about? I just bounced and bounced on it. It made the clenching easier to do and more intense. Why did he say it got flat with holes so fast? Seems like there was something wrong with it in the first place. Can you get on a waiting list so that if the dentist gets a cancellation and you're free you can get in sooner than next Friday? I wish I had any other ideas. Hopefully the xanax and flexeril will help some...they helped me some.
Take care,
Dana

Oh my, your dog ate it??? Mine only goes after stuffed animals. Atleast you got something for the pain. I'd have to have atleast 3 broken limbs and be bleeding from my eyes and ears before I would be offered anything by the people I see. What exactly is the purpose of the Xanax? For tension? I have some, for anxiety, but try not to use them just cause I want to prove to myself that I am over the anxiety and panic attacks.

They use Xanax for tension, anxiety, dizziness, a bunch of different things. It's an anti-anxiety med, but is used for multiple reasons. Somehow, it helps me not to clench quite so much, and helps the dizziness from the headaches. I don't have panic attacks or anything, but you don't have to apparently for it to be useful.

He gave me the Xanax to help me sleep at night and to help lessen my clenching. The meds are helping, But my cat passed away on friday :( so I have been crying alot and that makes the pain worse. and my teeth are killing me again because I have no mouthguard...can't wait to see specialist on friday!

Even though I am new to this board, I have been through TMJ 'h---' once when I was a teen. It took 6 bilateral surgeries to make me 'as normal' as anyone.
I have had 12 different bite splints, when I was young....
and, I have tried the one's you get in the pharmacy....my story about this......it made the pain worse. Just be careful if you decide to get one.
Thank God your doctor gave you pain meds. I am in crippling pain and am just waiting it out :(
good luck
