View Full Version : Question of the century???

Hi everyone,

I have a dilema.

About two weeks ago I fell making my symptoms worse. Up until monday of this week I was feeling really bad. As a matter of fact the pain was so bad that I couldn't sit at my desk and worked by kneeling on the floor. Tuesday I saw my neuro and scheduled surgury for this coming Monday. He is going on vacation on July 17th and will be out until August 11th. Anyway, since I saw him on Tuesday I have been feeling a lot better. I still have low backpain with some burning in the back of my thigh with some pain in the foot but it is not as bad as before. I worked 12 hours each day the rest of the week without many problems. I was taking some codine. My question is is it normal to start feeling a little better before having surgury, like a psychosematic sort of thing? Should I still have the operation??? He said it was a 90% chance I would be better. All advice is welcome

HI there!
I too as well felt better before my op two weeks ago.. I think it's some of the stress being relieved knowing that it will get better! The day I went in, I had barely any pain left, but then when I coughed and what not I was reminded why I was laying in pre-op..LOL
Good luck to you, best wishes, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers...

Hi Johney, I was feeling pretty good too, I even called my doc's office and told them I was feeling better, but because of everything i went thru with wc and me being investigated and a hearing and everything, the receptionist pulled my chart while i was on the phone and told me that because i had a herniated disk, that it would never be the same and that all it would take was for me to move the wrong way, and that would be that, and I would be in the same situation i was in before, and let me tell ya, I was feeling pretty darn good, but 4 days before surgery i could hardly walk, they had to bring the gurney to me practicly, any how my advice is " Just do it." I was walking to the restroom about 3 hours after surgery, and i was pain free except for the pain at the location of the incision, nothing compared to what i was....good luck, and you'll do fine...takecare

Johnny: It is normal to feel better especially knowing you will be getting relief in the near future...It is hard to tell anyone to go ahead with surgery, but chances are if you were to postpone your surgery, the next day you could be in total agony...Maybe postponing it for a couple months might give you a chance to see how you feel and see if it just a Fluke. How's Marcia doing these days?
