How do you guys feel when people who haven't seen you say you look "healthy".
Do you take it as a compliment or as an insult?

First off...Welcome! :)

When someone hasn't seen you in a while and they say that you look healthy, should you or shouldn't you take that as a compliment? Well I would take it as a compliment either way. Don't take the compliment as a road farther into your eating disorder but as a road toward recovery and a more happier you.
I haven't encountered that situation yet from people I haven't seen in a while. I have gotten that compliment from my family and friends that know but I see them serveral times a week. The quote I do get from people that I haven't seen in six months or more is, "Have you lost more weight?" or "You are way too thin."

i was just talking about this in an email to Liana.

as i told her, a person with a healthier mind, (as compared to an eating disordered mind) would take it as a compliment, they would be glad that they look better.

But...if you still have obsessive thoughts about weight, when someone tells you you look healthy...it might sound as if someone is saying..."you are fatter now.." of course, they aren't saying that, but thats the way an eating disordered mind thinks.

a new doctor i went to today said "well you look great now, no one could ever tell that you have had an eating disorder." i almost cried, because it reminded me that i've gained weight, and it made me feel kinda big.

so i can see why this would bother someone. just hang in there, hang tight, and continue to fight!!! you can get healthy. :)
