Has anyone on the board had 8 weeks of physical therapy and only have about 10% movement in their big toe? I also feel like there is a big rock under my sesamoid (under big toe) when I walk and try to flex the toe. I Have so much pain by night time that I'm still on two pain meds in order to get 4 hours of sleep. Foot swells after being in sitting position for say three hours. Am I being impatient? My PT says to this week is last week of therapy then I just need to finish this on my own. I'm terrified since the therapy does not seem to be improving anything. Any advice anyone? Thanks so much, I've really enjoyed reading the other posts!

I have not experienced this problem, but have you seen your doctor regarding your issue. I assume that your therapist would be sending a report to your Dr., but only does any good if you also follow-up w. your Dr. How often per week did you have PT? Did you have home exercises? Eight weeks of PT sounds like a long time, but perhaps it is not. I'm in the process of finishing 4 weeks of PT for ROM of my ankle and fortunately have regained much flexibility. I wish you the best - eko

Hi,
Just my 2 cents, I experienced the same problem. I had bunion surgery(Right foot) in Nov of last year.Since I have been to a different Dr. to try and correct the problem. He put 2 pins in my big toe to hold it down but as soon as he removed the pins my toe popped back up. My sesamoid bone is pounding on the ground which causes much pain.I have been to a very good specialist and a neurologist(SP) and they all have decided that I need further surgery to correct the mistake that the first Dr. madeHe cut some tendonds that he did not need to cut. So I'm waiting for my left foot to heal and then we will attempt to fix the problem once and for all. I hope this doesn't scare you but this is my experience.

Oh, the surgery on my left foot was a simple bunion/hammertoe surgery , which I developed an infection in on the 3rd day post op and was in the hospital for 6 days.
