Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in the conversion of tryptophan into serontonin and for the synthesis of dopamine and norepinephrine. It has been found to be quite low in patients admitted to hospital for depression. quoted from this site:

One sign of B6 deficiency is poor or nonexistent dream recall.
It is also helpful to take niacin with b6 or you could develop pellegra. Folate and B12 would be good too.

I guess if you can only get a B complex then you should see how that works for you. Usually with anything, it's best to increase the dose a little bit at a time. Don't make any big increases all at once in using the B complex. Let your body get used to the higher doses gradually.
But if you can, you might look into some source that can send you just the B6 vitamin if you can't get it locally. For now use what is available.
Different companies offer different combinations of B vitamins. So you may want to try different brands of the B complex and see which ones work better for you.
Good luck.

Hi I take a b-complex and I just wanted to let you know that if you take too much of one b- vitamin it can deplete others and actaully make things worse. I was deficient due to not eating meat and being on the birth control pill. I take b100 complex everyday and have actually seen a big improvement.
