I began to show symptoms of hpv a few months ago, I have not gone to a doctor because I have no health insurance. I am sure that it is the virus...I have done a lot of research and it has proceeded to get worse.

I was just wondering if anyone who is dealing with this virus can give me any advice. I plan on getting insurance within the next month or so. I am just really scared and angry. Although, reading everyone elses posts and replies makes me optomistic. I guess it's nice to know that there are other people out there that feel the same way as I do.
Thanks!!

Hang in there..

I think I may have it too and am still awaiting a response from these people here in my post on HPV.

I didnt think much of it at all until I find myself worried of having it, now I see how big of a deal it is..and the risk of getting cancer has me very worried..but the best thing to do is keep your body healthy.

Too bad for me, no more partying like every young guy should, but who knows maybe I dont have it.

Good luck to you, peace and love.

No use in being angry, and I would say not to be scared either. What you want to do after the insurance covers you is to be treated to get rid of the visible signs of Condyloma, and thereby minimize your risk of transmission to others. In time, most people end up supressing the virus--but once you have it, you have it.

Most Condyloma, esp. those that are visible are benign, or low-risk w/r/t cancer. The American Cancer society homepage covers this topic and the cancer risk well. You could read that for starters. Regular pap smears will be the best prevention for further complications.

Kastro,

Doubtful to incredibly slim...you are male. Condyloma resulting in cancer of male genitalia is rare; although, not unheard of.

worried,
All I can say is...get into a doc ASAP. You feel so much better once you are treating the virus and you also need to find out which strains you have-because one strain is a high risk for cancer (cervical) if you have the strain it does NOT mean you have cancer, it just means that there are abnormal cells from the virus on your cervix that will need to be frozen off and you will need a pap every 6 months to watch your cervix. I have this strain and the wart strain. I have had my cervix froze, all isn't too bad, but it's nice to have it all taken care of.
I know how you feel to be angry and mad, that is how I felt and still do! I am not sure where I got this virus (although I have an idea). I have never had sex with anyone just, genital contact with 2 different guys. So this news was a shocker to me!! But, I am about 4-5 months into all of this and I feel about 80% better than I use to!
So get into the doc as soon as you can. Have you thought about Planned Parenthood, I know they will work w/those who don't have insurance and they are great there!
Good luck to you, if you have any questions feel free to ask!
