View Full Version : Another test - necessary?

Hello again everyone!

Just over three months ago I put myself at risk, and counted down every day to the three month testing date. Anyway, towards the end of the window period, I was in the process of looking for a new flat - and had a move in date due one week before the end of the window period.

Well, with all the stress of moving house, I was a little week and ended up going for a test on day 82 - which was negative - hurrah!! However, I realise that 90 days had not passed - do you feel it would be wise to retest? At the clinic I was told that the window period was 90days or 12 weeks - 12 weeks is 84 days so I figured that 82 days should be ok - any thoughts?

Thanks!

Congratulations on testing negative, an 82-day test is going to be 99.9% accurate. You must feel very relieved!

It is a huge relief, and so a little silly that it still causes so much worry!

I was in EXACTLY the same places as you about 2 years ago. I tested early at 81 days. Then I did all the math, like 12 weeks is 84 days so does 3 days matter? And why 90 days? Is there THAT much diffrence. I spent 6 more months scared to death that those few days made a diffrence. What I discovered was that they didnt make a diffrence, and that a test in that time frame is accurate.

Although I couldnt seem to let it go, I went ahead and retested 7 months after the incident with Home Access. Both tests were negative, and I still didnt have peace of mind. It was another few months before that settled in. I had to forgive myself for the incident, and learn to trust the labs and the results.

Your test is accurate, and I hope you can put it behind you easier than I did!!

Good Luck!

hisgirltoo - thank you so much!

That is what I have been thinking - I raised it at the time of my test, and they were like "well, it should be a good indication but at the end of the day..." which I can understand as they need to cover their backs, but then when they gave me the result they did say "if it's just a couple of days, don't worry" - so I've tried not to!

So hopefully 82 days is fine. It just worries me to think about the fact that eveidentally the 90-day mark is there for a reason. But then 12 weeks is only 84 days, and 12 weeks is just as official as 90 days as far as I'm aware.

Oh well, I shall try to stop worrying!

Thanks again, and belated congrats on your test result!
Fabulous.
