View Full Version : Information on Heart Pain?

Hello.

I'm a 21YR old male who was a recreational drug user for 3YRS. I used a lot of Ecstasy, Amphetamine, and Methamphetamine.

I am no longer a drug user. I've been clean for 4 months now.

Can someone tell me in a little more detail about heart pain and exactly what is experienced?

In Febuary of this Year I was smoking meth for 24 hours and all of a sudden had a very bad and scary experience. My heart went crazy and my chest became tight. My left arm went very sore from my shoulder downwards and I believed I was about to have a heart attack. I coulden't control my breathing and felt as though I was about to pass out. My heart was thumping against my friend.

My friend rushed me to the ER and I was admitted to hospital for 12 hours. They performed an ECG, Chest X-Ray and Blood tests and said I was fine to leave after the 12 hours and nothing was abnormal.

Ever since this day I've been convinced I have a heart condition.

I've had 2x ECG since then to check my heart. Both times nothing abnormal was found. The doctor said I had a slight spike but they may have been from my nervousness or moving.

Still, I do suffer bad anxiety and I seem to have aching or tightness in my chest, or what feels like my chest muscles. It's not normally directly in the center, it's normally on the sides of my chest and extended to my back and shoulders.

This scares me a lot - It comes and goes.

Is there anything more I can do to make sure my heart is 100% fine?

I also notice I'm urinating more during the night. IE: I need to get up once or twice a night to pee.

If I was experiencing a heart condition, what symptoms would I commonly find?

I'm scared.

Shal.

Yes there is,
Go to the next step in testing and have a stress test with imaging with a radioactive marker. That will show whether you have any shortage of blood to any particular areas of the heart as well as many other conditions that remain invisible to the ECG.

Have you had any repetition of the heart racing and pain down the left arm?

Those symptoms are quite alarming, while thankfully everything was alright at the time, it in no way eliminates heart problems.(Some yes). A stress test would be an important test for you, even maybe an echo to rule out any structural damage, it doesn't always show on EKG. Heart pain is often described as feeling like an elephant sitting on your chest, a crushing, tightening type pain, along with pain in your arm, upper back. There are several symptoms, and they can differ from men to women. Go for a follow up to a cardiologist.
