My mom has had Candida for about 15 years now. She recently purchased something called Threelac, along with already being on the "diet." She also takes Nystatin when needed. The problem is ever since she took the Threelac stuff, she's been unable to keep anything down. I know it's the Candida because pretty much the day she took it, she complained of being sick again. She hasn't been this sick since the beginning of the disease. She also seems to be the only one having such a violent reaction to this Threelac stuff. I need some advice as to what she can eat or take to stop this reaction. This has been going on for four days. Can someone please help?

Can someone help me here? This is now the 6th day and I don't know what to do to stop the nausea. Help!

Use common sense: tell her to stop the Threelac. I looked it up online and it said that bowel movements may change, but nothing about nausea.

How exactly is the Candida presenting itself? Thrush?

She stopped taking it after the first day.

She has Candida throughout her entire body.

Does she have an immune deficiency (or diabetes)? I'm just wondering since you've posted on the immune disorders board.

Is the Nystatin topical or oral? If it's topical, has she tried oral antifungals? If Nystatin isn't doing such a great job, there are other ones out there (Diflucan-fluconazole, Sporanox-itraconazole)

For nausea, she could try taking Pepto-Bismol, but ask her doctor first.

Systemic candidaiasis can be very hard to treat. Can you share anything more about her diet, meds, etc? Is she seeing a specialist? Any non prescription meds?
Sending good thoughts your way, Penny

I wish I could say something helpful, but everytime I take an acidophilus supplement such as Threelac, I get severe nausea also, but not vomiting. I also have a really bad case of candidiasis. I really hope your mom feels better soon, I know how horrible it is.

Hi, what are some of the reactions your mother had to the three-lac? without knowing exactly, it sounds like your mother is having a die-off reaction. The three-lac is killing off the candida. Your mom could take less of the three-lac to start out and build up. Also when your haivng a strong die-off reaction you need to drink lots of water and take a fiber supplement to get the toxins out of your blood stream and out of the body.

Possibly your mother needs to detox her body. You can detox with fasting, herbs, vegtable juicing, etc. Dr. Mercola has lots of information on his website pertaining to diet and detoxing. Also, askwaltstollmd has lots of information in the archives.

I have heard that three-lac is one of the best natural anti-fungals for candida. Has your mother tried other anti-fungals? Diet is also very important.

Hi Hannasnanna,
I was reading your reply and I noticed you wrote about detox. I was told that I should consider doing that to get rid of whatever is in my system...God knows what....but I am a bit unclear about what that means. Give I have enough common sense to know it means to get rid of anything in my system but would that mean I would have to stop taking the Methotrexate, Prednisone, Bextra, I am on for my RA? I have also been taking xanax for 3 years so that would mean major withdrawls.........And then I worry will I be in that excurating pain agian with my RA (not that I am in no pain now...since I have only been on the meds for 4 1/2 weeks)? Then I also worry will it mean I have to start over with my RA meds since I have flushed them out of my system???

If you have any input or anyone else please let me know.
Thanks and everyone take care.

thescardest,
I'm not knowledgeable about drugs like Methotrexate or Prednisone, but from experience, I know about Xanax and benzos, and if you're going to get off of the Xanax, go SLOW. Slow, slow, slow. There is a manual you can view online, I believe called the Ashton manual, that will help you incredibly. Try putting "Ashton Manual" or something similar in a Yahoo or Google search. I wish you the best of luck with detox and everything else!:)

Hey,

A little off-topic but I was wondering how some of the posters here know FOR SURE you have candida. I suspect it but is there anything that can actually tell you for sure. like a test, or is it just obvious from the array of symptoms you present. I have no "vaginal" thrush but I do have a lot of the other symptoms. I feel drunk all the time, have recurrent sore throats and sinus infections, am generally very fatigued and unwell, and do have a burning sensation in my rectum. No doctor seems to be able to diagnose me and I fluctuate like this from day to day. Some days I'm almost normal, others I can barely stand up. And I also have a very gurgly stomach and often get pains in what feels like my appendix. My appetite has almost gone but I crave carbs and sweets. I know it sounds pretty likely that I have candida but is there any way to know for sure? Or do you just go on the diet, take the nystatin and hope for improvement?

Thanks, and I hope your mother is feling better glitterstars :)
