Hello, I am 56 years old. I fell about 7 weeks ago and broke my wrist. I had the cast removed last week and I am experiencing quite a bit of pain. It occurs in different parts of my hand, fingers and wrist. Sometimes it is a really sharp pain, sometimes a dull ache, sometimes a real bad cramping feeling. It is really bad at night. the doctor said to take ibuprofin but it just is not helping. I have a brace but that does not help much either. Is this common after a broken bone and anyone have any idea how long this pain should last? I sure could use a good nights sleep. Thanks

I had the same as you...but it went away after about 2 months...gradually...i think it's basically that when you get the cast off, you're still not completely healed....and your bones need to adjust again. do some rehab wrist exercises...

i wouldn't be worried.

Same thing happened to me, but it was my right ankle. Slipped and fell in the snow. Your wrist has basically been out of commission for an extended period of time, and is probably a little weak. It should improve over time. My ankle didn't feel right for about three weeks. Hang in there, wear the brace and take Advil.
