Are you talking about green beans or dried beans?

Most things are fattening if you eat enuff of 'em :D However eating a 1/2 cup daily serving of beans per day is a wonderful source of protein, minerals, vitamins, carbs, etc. should give you many health benefits without adding fat.
More to the point, however, is just how much protein are you eating daily??

Well, they are certainly not the lowest calorie food around . . . but you have to look at everything in context. You absolutely need some foods that are not low in calories, so that cannot be the measure of everything.
As already stated, they have protein, etc., plus a recent report lists them as being relatively high in antioxidants (some varieties more than others). Your missing nothing from pasta . . . continue on with the beans!

Hello, The main question is are you gaining weight? If your not, then you're eating the way you should for your body and don't need to worry about it. Beans are full of protien and gas, so they might bloat you a little. Beans are also considered a meat on some diets, so some people use them to replace meat rather then use them as an accompaniment with meat. Some diets also consider them a starch. I would say the cheese, meat, and nuts are way more fattening than the beans depending on what is on the beans and what kind of meat you are eating...."Beans, beans, I love beans, they make you..." (Ok, one of the kids taught me that song.) :bouncing:

Hello, You might want to do a food diary for a week or so to find out if it really is the beans or something else you're eating. Some examples of lean body enemies would be would be processed foods, sodas, or unwise snack choices. Another alternative is to beef up your exercise program, so that you are burning more calories.
