I've read that any illness that causes fever can cause night sweats. Now....I've been experiencing night sweats for about a month now. except when i go out and have a couple of drinks....Well the sweats are Nothing too bad...just the neck part of my shirt gets damp. My question being is if it's hiv, does the night sweats always come with a fever? I take my temp everytime i wake up in the middle of the night and it's always normal. I don't experience any other symptoms. I'm actually putting on weight instead of losing. I'm just goin crazy thinking horrible things. Before my boyfriend now, the only other person i had unprotected sex with was about 4 yrs. ago.

Early symptoms of HIV can vary...Some people get them all, some people get some, and others have none. So, yes...it is feasible to get night sweats and not have a fever. That being said, you can rule out the recent night sweats from your relationship 4 years ago...You would probably be seeing other things occuring by now if it was left untreated that long. As far as your new relationship, anything is possible and the only real way to tell is getting tested.

Honestly, since you are visiting this board and have researched enough info to know night sweats are a possible symptom, you're probably stressed over all this which can cause sweating. That also being said, you'll know a night sweat...they describe them as a drenching sweat that totally wets your clothes and sheets to the point of saturation. Our minds tend to go on overload with this and we forget simple things sometimes...like its summertime and its normal to feel hot and sweat at night. I wouldn't really worry all too much...be happy :) and like I said, get tested to put your mind at ease!

Hey,

Old people get night sweats, over weight people, people under stress, food you eat, menopause and menstration, constipation etc I can keep going. Don't worry hon, it looks like you are fine..Like Jon said getting checked always helps because it makes you relaxed and before you know it..no more sweats..unless of other reasons and that means protective ones! ;)
