View Full Version : One week and still dizzy....

About a week ago I started feeling lightheaded, off balance, and dizzy, not really sure if it is considered vertigo. Have not vomitted or fainted but felt close to it a few times. I have an appt with an ENT tomorrow. Went to my regular dr the other night and he gave me Meclizine and said it was probably inner ear related. This medicine helps a little but makes me feel very groggy and even more out of it. Without the med I am still out of it and I notice my speech a little slurred, alot of messing up at work, and terrible "heavy head spins" if that makes sense. I am a nervous wreck that I have a brain tumor or disorder. I am getting married in two months and am supposed to be enjoying this time not to mention we have millions of things to do and I cannot do anything right now.

Does this sound like an inner ear thing, sinus infection or something?
Can anyone offer some help, support, anything?

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

Well, you've pretty much described how it all started for me (although I didn't have the speech slurring). I'd say 99%, you've got labyrinthitis which does cause all of the things you are getting (speech muckup too). Don't worry about brain tumours or something more sinister. Check out what the ENT has to say first and stay positive. I know at least 3 people who knocked it on the head within 2 months. Did you have a cold or infection of some sort recently at about the same time this kicked in? Don't worry if you didn't however....some are totally unaware of such things and just wake up with the imbalance.

Let us know what the doc says.

Cheers.....Scott
