HI All!

I just had my first echo. Of course, I have to wait a few days to get the official report from my doctor, but..
I heard a few things from the tech as he was prodding me!

Is "Mild MVP" anything to be concerned about? I am 41, overweight by about 50 pounds, but have great low cholesterol and low blood pressure. I have been having palipations with teeth/jaw pain, so my doc said to have an echo, then a nuclear stress test (I have that later in july).

I guess if my echo shows anything serious, they will let me know sooner. Anyway....mild MVP, and a lot of numbers dealing with aorta is all I could make out.

Thanks,
rubydoo...

Although there is some controversy, MVP in general is a benign condition-from what I have read. Do you have regurgitation? (Backflow of blood)

There is no cause for alarm with 'mild MVP'. It however, if that is your diagnosis, is important to keep regular checkups and I am sure your Dr will tell you to take antibiotics before dental procedures and some surgeries. The best thing you can do for yourself is eat right, get plenty of sleep and excercise. And live your life. Too many times, people with heart conditions become to believe they are fragile and so don't get out and enjoy life. I know, I was there.
I am not sure if there are certain exercise limits with MVP, but, unless you have symptoms, you should be okay there.
Sometimes the condition can progress, and may lead to valve replacement. Are you on any meds?

There actually are several people here with MVP, so hopefully someone with more knowledge will come and fill you in more.

Hope this helps some.
Abby

Thanks for your reply Abbygirl.

My doc just called, and said yes, Mild MVP with regurgitation. I have a Thallium stress test scheduled for later in July. He said to follow up with an appt after that.

I guess I won't find out much more until the stress test. I am definitely stressing about this stupid stress test. I hate needles, and the thought of walking on a treadmill with an IV is not making me happy
Thanks,
Rubydoo
