Hi everyone,
Just another question.......How much longer is the recovery time from bunions/hammertoe surgery after having a bad infection that has traveled halfway up my leg?Compared to surgery without infection? I believe the infection is gone but still on oral antibiotics. Seems like I have much more pain than I did in my other foot. Still non weightbearing. Any input???

Thanx, Sue

My infection is a lot different than yours. But from what my os says the infection and irritation has made it harder for me to recover. I have excess scar tissue and extra joint pain that is not really explained. I was weightbearing 2 weeks after my debridements but I was also on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks so they were pretty sure my walking wouldn't spread anything. I would be prepared for a delay in healing.. good luck to you! I know this sucks royally.. My infection traveled from the bone in my heel to the talus, cuboid, diatal tib and fib, and the soft tissue all the way up my calf.. good luck!

Because my infection happened after three months, my only delay was in staring physical therapy. Also, I had cellulitus on my surgery toe, not a bone infection. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
