My son is 16 years old. His first surgery was when he was 6 months old. They have put tubes, tubes, tubes in and out of his ears. One ear finally healed up after 15 years. Just recently, he had to have his mastoid bone, encus bone removed. He also lost a taste nerve on the right side due to this.
They went in and we did the prosthetics surgery as well. Still he is not hearing. He has learned that he one ear is all he has got. 2 years now, he has not been able to get in our swimming pool. He has fought most of his life to be normal. He is only 16 !! He just got out of 8th grade, during his ceremony, He was awarded the Courage award. He had ADHD, he wanted to be off the medicine, I told him it was his choice. It was a mind thing, he had to control what he was doing. This kid, fought hard. After 2 surgeries in one year, he ended up with A,B Honor Roll in school, Also he has no IP no more, and he let the doctor put a tube in his ear in the office !!!!!
We are still waiting and fighting to get his hearing back, He also wants to play the drums. I am going to let him do it !!! I have taught him that there is nothing in this world that you can't due !!!!!!!
I wish there was an answer I could give to him. The only answer I can give him is to fight for what he wants.
What else can I do ?
