I started VRT yesterday and followed it again today. Right now I'm feeling pretty woozy and my rocking is a lot more pronounced than it has been over the past couple of weeks. Is this normal?

Yes. My therapist told me it would...a way of retraining the brain. As I got better, she tried exercises to make me dizzy and when we found one, I did it at home . Keep it up---VRT does help. I improved so much.

I have never really told my story, so to speak. I have been dizzy for 2 years. I posted a while back to see if anyone had radiation treatments on their ears when they were young---baby boomers. I had these treatments when I was 10 because I had so many ear infections and my hearing was not good. They also hoped that it would help the scar tissue in my ear. My drs. have said that it did more harm than good. Radiation was the "newest" thing back then. When I get a cold or sinus infection, I would always get dizzy....but as the cold got better, the dizzies would go away. I started taking allergy shots and, they really didn't help the dizzies, but seemed to help the actual allergy symptoms. In 2002, I woke up one morning--had no cold or sinus--and was so dizzy and nauseated. I felt "removed" and just out of it. During June of that year, I went to my regular dr. 4 times. He finally told me that he didn't know what was wrong, but to get out and have fun---right---I couldn't drive a car, couldn't eat, some nights I had to sleep in my clothes, and in 6 weeks, had lost 15 lbs. I live by myself and my sister came and took me to her house, as I really couldn't function. Her dr. sent me for MRI--it was ok--and tested me for various diseases--all ok. by Sept., I was pretty functional--could drive and work. The dizziness and nausea were still there, but nothing like before. In May of 2003, I caught a cold and all the mess came back. My allergist sent me to Bowman Gray School of Med. for eval. I had ENT, hearing, equilibrum---all the tests. Findings were moderate hearing loss, upbeating nystagmus, borderline nystagmus on positional test and equilibrium---all over the place. Was sent to neuro---had carotid, MRI, EEG,brainstem auditory evoked response, and ambulatory EEG------results were abnormal brainstem auditory response because of cochlear delay--especially on right side(my bad ear). Sent to infectious disease dr. ---they thought I may have Epstein-Barr---didn't. Was treated for transfer migraines-reacted to med. so med. was discontinued. I changed my reg. dr. and we talked--she gave me HCTZ, which had helped. I then heard of VRT and she said by all means. I took VRT for 2 mons--2 times a week--and have seen a world of difference. I do the exercises every day and can use the equipment where I took therapy (at med. school), any time I want to for $30 a month. So that's my story. Sorry it was so long. by the way, do they have spell check on this site, as I can't spell!!!!!

Dizzywise I'm functional now. I have some good days and bad days. They really didn't give me a diagonis---just thought the radiation and chronic ear infections did a number on my ear function. The ENT thought eustachian tube disfunction. I'm carrying on. Decided that I have to take advantage of each day I can
