This is my confusion????????????

I called CDC they said to get the Elisa test because at 25 days it normally shows whether you are positive or negative. I spoke to a lab and they said they cannot stand behind the results of the Elisa at 25 or more days because the antibodies aren't produced in the body in such a short period of time. They recommended the DNA/PCR test.

The CDC recommended not taking the DNA/PCR test at 28 days because it is inconclusive and show's false positives from time to time.

Now who do you believe CDC or the labs???????????????????

I took the Elisa at 27 days and will take the DNA/PCR at 28 days just to know.

It's just who do you believe the Center for Disease Control, who you would think knows what the heck they are talking about, or a lab who is trying to make money and pushing the DNA/PCR testing at approximately $240.00 a pop.

If you anyone has tested and used both of these test please share your encounter, symptoms and test results with time frames of test taken.

I would appreciate it very much. I'm very scared and am searching for as must info as possible.

Hi StupidCajun
No the lab is correct and although expensive, they are not just trying to make money out of you. The ELISA may not detect antibodies at this stage and may not be reliable. It is correct that the majority of infected people will have developed detectable antibodies by this time, however the majority is not all.
A DNA/PCR test at this time is a lot more accurate this soon after exposure, however it can produce false positives. On the up side, a negative DNA/PCR would almost rule out infection, however it is still not approved by the FDA as a screening method. In my opinion, for what it's worth, I would still have an ELISA test at 3 months to rule out infection.
