View Full Version : Stomach ulcer or not?

Since 4 years I get nausea when I eat in a restaurant with friends for example, not when eating alone. I start to sweat and have to go for a walk. That is problem nr one.

However, being in my final year during my final exams at uni, i started feeling my stomach after eating. No real hard pains, the sensation of a warm towel that is wrapped around the bottom of my stomach. Sometimes I don't feel the pain for some days, other days I already get it after drinking a sip of water. It doesn't hurt that much, but I can really feel my stomach all the time, it's like it is a little sore.

Can anyone help me with either of my probs? Will go to doctor soon, but don't know if it is bad enough.

You have what I would call ulcer symptoms but it's weird that you don't have the problemd sll the time. You may have GERD or a weak stomach. If you believe that you may have ulcers, you should see a doctor because ulcers can develop into a serious problem. Say one night you take some ibuprofen. that may cause a big problem. An egd is the gold standard to check for ulcers and it can also rule out or diagnose a whole host of other problems. I had duodenal ulcers and every time that I ate, my stomach would feel like not a warm but a towel on fire was in my stomach. I eventually showed signs of bleeding in my stool and that is what finally got me to the doctor. Don't wait that long! Good luck!

Hi, thx for the response. Did you go directly to the feeling of those flames or was it first 'a warm towel' that became flames in a matter of days?

Today for instance no pain at all, some days I have pain, others not.. really weird.

I may have had one day where a felt a warm burn but after that it was always an intense burning pain that came on shortly after I ate. However, I was taking naproxen which was worsening my situation at a fast rate.

I have an ulcer and do not have pain all the time with it either.

The feeling that I get is similar to your own. See the docs, they will be able to order an endoscopy for you.

cheers
Karen
