some types of epilepsy are. I have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy... it's genetic. It's easy to diganose mine as genetic just because my mom is one of 13 and I have 35 cousins-- seizures run in the family and so do migraines(which have been genetically linked). JME didn't surface in me until right after my 16th birthday and right now there are only other girls over 16 (it's found more in females) and a dozen or so cousins including boys...so we're watching our little cousins carefully.

There's only like 2-5% of cases that are genetic...I wouldn't worry that much :)
