No thats nonsense, if that were true women wouldn't be using it as much as they do.
The pill does have side effects, it messes with your natural hormones and as such isn't the greatest thing in the world, unfortanatly though for many women it is the only choice and unlike the male pill they are in no rush to improve things with the womens pills because they know women will still take them.

My Ob-Gyn, who is also a fertility specialist said that that is not true also. He told me that as SOON as you quit taking the pill you are suppossed to be ready to ovulate. It is like your ovaries are cocked and ready to fire, that is the phrase he used. Anyway, I have heard some women say it took them a long time to get preggers after the pill but I think that just depends on the woman and not how long you were taking the pill.

The only thing I can say is that doctors have told me that being on the pill has no effect on your fertility. I will say though...that if there is problems with you body....that would have happened anyway....being on the pill can mask those symptoms.
Take me for example, I was on the pill for 9 years. I went on them when I was 15 and stopped them when I was 23 because I wanted to get pregnant. Well after 10 months and no pregnancy I went to the doctor and found out I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. I was told that this is something that can happen to women in their teens to early twenties. They don't know what exactly causes it but because I was on the pill it was masking the symptoms that I had it. I thought I was so regular and had no problems what so ever. Well I was so regular because the pill was forcing my body to be regular. So my doc said that more than likely I will always need something to stimulate my body to ovulate when I want to get pregnant and when I don't want to get pregnant I will be on the pill to help keep me regular, otherwise I could bleed or spot whenever!
There are women who are on the pill for years and years, then stop the pill and are pregnant the same month! Everybody is different. Some women need a few months to get regular again while they wait for the hormones to get back to normal. So like I said, unless something is happening in your body that would have happened whether you were on the pill or not, then being on the pill does not effect your fertililty...according to all the doctors I have talked to. Hope I helped to answer your question. :)
