For about 2 yrs now I have had a sore toe(one next to big toe). It bothers me off and on, sometimes it seems a bit red and swollen. I finally mentioned this to my Dr the other day and as I was pulling my sock off she asked if there was any skin irritation or crack between my toes. There was, so she sent me for an xray. Apparently there was a bump under the affected toe.
Not sure if its on the joint or bone.
In between the affected toe and the next smaller one, there is what seems like some sort of dry, tough skin, its not really a cut nor a rash. Hmmm, its hard to explain. Anyway what is the connection between the two-any ideas?

My guess would be that it's some sort of callous from the toes being squashed together by whatever the bump is.
