Hi, I am a 30 y/o male with AADD. I aso have sleep apnea. I was diagnosed with my sleep apnea in 2002 and have a cpap machine since, things went well until I began taking strattera. I take 80 mg per day in the morning. My problem now is I cannot sleep! I wake up every 2 or 3 hours! Don't get me wrong, personally, I think straterra saved my life. I was able to "buckle down" and I actually cleaned up my life! I am a better person both at work and at home. I am afraid to stop taking them because I do not want things to go back to "what they were" PLEASE HELP!

sounds like you might need to try something straterra is great for some but not for all. there are several different meds out there. also look at how much caffine and sugar you take in everyday, you might find that its not the meds at all.

Afdia, you might try taking your Strattera at night rather than in the morning to see if that helps. My son takes it at bedtime and has no trouble sleeping.

But things could go back to what they were if you develop tolerance, or poop out which is common with AD's(strattera is similiar to older version AD's), or , if sleep problems persist, lack of proper sleep can lead to impaired mental function or health problems. So you may want to consider all that in the future. But if you want to take drugs anyway, Strattera would be a better choice than amphetamines for ADD.
A doctor most probably will put you on sleeping pills but those have severe tolerance issues and the withdrawals are bad; they poop out and not work at all....also, withdrawals can occur even while still taking them when tolerance builds up. Wouldn't even consider those if I were you.
